Do I have to be a paralegal to qualify for a Paralegal Services USA franchise?

Do I have to be a paralegal to qualify for a Paralegal Services USA franchise?

No. We only require that the services be provided by qualified paralegals with (1) at least three years experience working as a paralegal under the direct supervision of an attorney and (2) any one of the following criteria:

  • Successful completion of the Certified Legal Assistant (“CLA”) examination offered by the National Association of Legal Assistants (“NALA”); or

  • Successful completion of the Paralegal Competency Exam (“PACE”) offered by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (“NFPA”); or

  • Graduation from an American Bar Association (“ABA”) approved program of study for paralegals/legal assistants; or

  • Graduation from a program of study for paralegals/legal assistants which is an American Association for Paralegal Education (AAFPE) member program; or

  • Bachelor or Associate degree in paralegal/legal assistant studies/technology; or

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in any field plus a paralegal/legal assistant certificate; or

  • Certificate from a non-correspondence paralegal/legal assistant program which is not ABA approved or an AAFPE member; or

  • Currently a paralegal/legal assistant manager, coordinator or administrator, and applying their past experience and/or education as a paralegal/legal assistant to their position; or

  • Graduation from a course of study for paralegal/legal assistants other than those set forth above, which is in substantial compliance with ABA guidelines.

Start-up costs vary depending on your location, state and local regulations and a variety of other factors. Our Franchise Disclosure Document outlines the details of these costs and provides other valuable information you will need before making a decision. 

What type of advertising support can I expect? 

We provide a full line of ready-to-use professional marketing materials, including formats for flyers, direct mail pieces, brochures, and sample ads. Complete details on your office location and your services are also highlighted on the Paralegal Services USA web site. Our web site is an effective marketing tool and you will be asked to contribute to it and add valuable content for prospective attorney-clients in your area.

What type of initial training will I receive?

The franchise fee is $20,000.

Are there any royalty or other ongoing fees?

The royalty fee is 8% of gross receipts. We also require a marketing fee of 2% of gross receipts. All fees are outlined in our Franchise Disclosure Document. 

Can I open more than one office and does Paralegal Services USA, LLC offer discounts on the franchise fee for additional offices?

Yes, and the franchise fee for any additional office that you open is one-half of the then-current franchise fee for a comparable territory.
